The Eminence of Bardon Roket: Excerpt #2

~A Beginning~

They all dispersed, leaving Bardon alone in the meeting room. It was quiet in there, as it usually was. The boiler had finally calmed down, to the point where it no longer spewed and belched and hissed. Bardon sat and thought. Their next real test was coming so very soon. And then after that? He tried not to think too much about it, because their project just kept getting bigger and bigger the farther out it went, to the point where it began to intimidate even him.

He folded his arms and leaned back in his chair. As night came on, he wondered if it really was possible to accomplish this big dream of his. So many things could go wrong and so many people who would align themselves against him when his true intentions were unveiled. They’d build walls around him and his partners, very tall and very thick walls. And they wouldn’t stop until he backed down. That was how the adult world worked.

Bardon smiled.
